Avery’s 5th Annual Leaves of Love Celebration is now closed for 2021!
Welcome to our annual Leaves of Love Celebration! We’re so honored you are with us during this special initiative. Our goal is to bring awareness to the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Community, through creative grief-work.
During the Fall months, one of my favorite creative grieving initiatives is creating Leaves of Love. I started in 2016, honoring a small number of babies through my tight nit Angel Mom Community. And it just grew from there! I collect leaves that have already fallen from the branches. A symbol of the children we have lost along the way…falling from our own trees of life. I quietly go to local walking paths, parks and botanical gardens to get a range of leaves with different colors and sizes. To me, that is a very intimate and personal time with the angels. I’ll spot a leaf and think…”Yes this one would be perfect for… (insert your baby’s name).” I am an artist, so my eye is always searching for the leaves that have the most interesting markings or special flaws. Using Sharpie Paint Pens, I write each angel's name. Thinking about them and how precious of a life they were and remain to be. Small decorations are done with a fine paint brush and craft paints and placed to dry. The leaves are photographed, edited with a watercolor filter and given to each family via social media connections as a special keepsake.
Just like Avery’s Garden, the Leaves of Love have continued to grow in popularity and as a unique remembrance treasure.
